SCOTLANDSIMAGES.COM site launched at PBF 08
CiT has worked with five major institutions to create a new Scottish National Image Resource WWW.SCOTLANDSIMAGES.COM. The solution created by CiT to manage the collection is a portal that enables all aspects of the administration to function as a single entity, whilst allowing each archive to retain it’s own individual ownership of images and operational data.
- All five archives are able to catalogue and upload images into a single portal.
- Each image is identifiable by both originator and source archive.
- Visitors to the website can search each collection individually or the combined archive.
- Web sales and related data can be viewed either per collection or combined
- Partner institutions can view and analyze their own individual data.
The advanced search options on the site enable keyword matching using all words, any words, or exact phrase. Searches can be filtered by category or contributor institution. Additional options allow users to narrow the search by selecting colour or B/W, or by choosing the orientation required. Finally search results can be further refined by use of additional keywords.
The National Archives of Scotland, in partnership with The National Library of Scotland, National Museums Scotland, The National Trust for Scotland and The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland, have developed this image library to make available for licensed use selected images from the extensive, and often unique, holdings of Scotland's national collections. |
